Your Guide 

The owner-operator-guide is Tom Poulton, a resident and fisherman of the Sunshine Coast for 49 years.    Tom began fishing as a child near 150 mile house in lakes and creeks in the interior.  Tom moved to the Sunshine Coast at the age of 14 and fished many days from the Davis Bay pier .  The pier fishing moved to owning boats and adventuring all over the Strait of Georgia and local Inlets.  Tom then advanced to guiding and has been in the business for over 30 years.

Qualifications 

The skipper has the SVOP, SDV-BS, Marine First Aid, Fatigue Management and has taken the C.P.S Boating course through the well recognized Canadian Power and Sail Squadron.   Tom is a citizen scientist for the Avid Angler program and worked for  the "Bottlenecks to Survival" initiative a highly specialized collaborative research project which was  led by the Pacific Salmon Foundation (PSF) alongside Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO).   Tom recently joined the Sport Fishing Advisory Board (SFAB) committee for area 16.

The Vessel 

The vessel provided is a Bayliner Trophy 20’6” walk around fishing machine with bibbonny top, and cuddy which seats and fishes up to four. The vessel was also registered in the SVCP and has been approved through Transport Canada as commercial passenger/work boat.  

 

The boat comes fully fueled and has all the required safety equipment including a VHF radio for which Tom has the required Restricted Radio Operator Certificate (M) and the vessel is registered with MMSI.   

 

The boat is moored in Halfmoon Bay during the Summer and on a trailer for the Winter and Spring.  The boat and owner are fully insured for guided fishing charters.
