The fish are biting
Went to fish Epsom for the afternoon with my youngest boy - Good fishing reports from other fishers as I was leaving the marina. We got out to Epsom about 2:30pm and were into fish right off the bat. A few undersize and then an 8lb white Spring. If there was 15 minutes between action it was surprising. Caught a 9lb red spring and then a 24lb big whitey. Most of the action was on the green herring teaser with live bait inserted but the 24lber was on the green/blue Brad’s
Its June
The last few weeks leading up to the this full moon have been some of the best fishing seen in this area for 10 plus years. Sangster, Lasqueti , Texada and Epsom have all been producing. Great reports have been coming from Powell River as well.

Tips Up had another couple out again to fish the low slack. I picked up the speed and the action started. We were into about 4 or 5 undersize and a 10lb Chinook. The action died off not long after the low slack so we bombed off to pt Upwood. We found a nice ling and two kelp lings and a beauty rock cod plus two crab in the trap on the way in. Surprised to see salmon action on the full moon but I will take it.

Tips Up was out with a couple from Maple Ridge leading up to the low slack. We hit an undersize almost immediately and then nothing. We did however find a nice ling and a kelp ling and crab for dinner. There were other fish reported caught that day
A Solo Adventure
Tips Up went out solo to see what the issue was. I was fishing near Claude and watched him fight and lose two fish in the shallows near the rip tide. The recommendation was to pick up the speed to near 3 mile per/hr. I ended up landing 3 undersize and a 10 lb red Chinook for my efforts. Claude C managed to catch the twin to my fish and Ray G caught at least two. The spoons with green seem to be the hit.
Fishing with my boys
Tips Up had my two younger boys out fishing Epsom on the afternoon tide. No salmon presence but we did land one keeper ling. We headed over to Texada (Pt Upwood/Corner Cupboard) and found a nice 20lb ling that the boys teamed up on. Leading up to the evening tide we headed back to Epsom. After only about 5 minutes the rod with the hearing teaser green flasher popped and ran. The pull was heavy and solid but not the same energy of a salmon. I was thinking Halibut and th
